Elizabeth M. McGowan 1989-2008 PUTNEY

Elizabeth M. McGowan, 19 of Putney died Saturday August 2, 2008 in Chesterfield, N.H. from injuries resulting from a motor vehicle accident. She was born on March 22, 1989 in Brattleboro, the daughter of Christopher and Brenda Pease McGowan. For 10 years, from 1996 to 2006, she was enrolled in Jenkins School of Dance Gymnastics in Claremont, N.H. At Jenkins she studied gymnastics, ballet, jazz, and tap. She participated in various dance competitions and was recognized in particular for her abilities in tap dancing on many occasions. She spent many summer and weekends with her dancing partner, Kristin Fuller, and her parents, Candy and Dave, at the Fuller Farm in Perkinsville, VT. She was employed at Bickford's Family Restaurant in Brattleboro as a waitress. She enjoyed dealing with the public. She loved family, friends, traveling, dance, and music, but most of all people. Her outgoing and upbeat personality touched anyone she met. Her smile captured audiences and could light up any room she entered. She traveled extensively with her best friend, Malena Moorman, in the Caribbean and Mexico Elizabeth leaves her father, Christopher McGowan, of Putney; her mother, Brenda J. McGowan and her husband, Brian Haskell, of Bellows Falls; her two brothers, Eric McGowan of Putney and William McGowan of Andover, N.H.; her grandparents, Lois and Warren Pease, Carl A. Fisher Jr., and Eileen Y. McGowan; her great-grandmother, Evelyn Kelly, of Bridgton, Maine; her uncles, Edward McGowan III and his wife, Linda, and James McGowan; her aunts, Eileen Frantiska and her husband, George, and Kathleen Reccord; six cousins, Brandon, Brett, and Gabrielle Reccord, Michael Frantiska, Jennifer Peters and her husband, Aaron, Edward McGowan IV; and her many friends. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Edward T. McGowan. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Elizabeth will be on Thursday August 7, 2008 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Brattleboro at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Putney. Visiting hours will be at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to either the Putney or the Chesterfield, N.H. Fire departments.
