A Franklin County solider has been killed in Iraq.

The Pentagon said Pfc. Aaron Genevie, 22, of Chambersburg, died on April 16 in Iraq. They said he was killed when his vehicle hit a bomb.

Genevie was a 2003 graduate of McConnellsburg High School.

News 8 spoke with his father on Tuesday night. He said that his son was in the Army for about a year and a half and was in Iraq for about two months.

"He wanted to go there and do his best. And I feel, with the sadness I feel, like he died doing what he loved to do," said Joel Lehman, Genevie's former boss.
