Former Hemet resident killed by roadside bomb in Iraq
Army Staff Sgt. Bryan E. Bolander, a former Hemet resident, died Tuesday when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Baghdad, the Department of Defense reported.
Bolander, 26, is the ninth soldier with ties to Hemet to die in Iraq. He graduated from Mountain View High School in San Jacinto in 2000. Bolander previously attended San Jacinto High School.
Bolander last lived in Clarksville, Tenn., near Fort Campbell, Ky., the Army base where he was stationed before being deployed to Iraq.

He planned to marry Sandra Beth Comer on June 7.
Comer's MySpace page still displayed shamrocks Friday. "Lucky in Love with My Soldier," Comer wrote.
On Bolander's MySpace page, Comer said, "I will forever love you with all of my heart. You made me the happiest woman in the world."
Comer said by e-mail from her home in Tennessee that Bolander "loved his job and believed very much in what he was doing."
"He was a wonderful person," she wrote. "He made a difference in everyone's life that he touched."
On his MySpace page, which features a U.S. flag background, Bolander wrote that he liked "sports, especially around football season, drinking, anything spontaneous."
Bolander was assigned to the 1st Battalion headquarters company in Baghdad. He also served in Kosovo, earning a Kosovo Campaign Medal with a Bronze Service Star, according to a Fort Campbell news release.
