A still-unidentified man fatally struck by a Metra train Tuesday morning in the Roscoe Village neighborhood on the North Side committed suicide, an autopsy revealed.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was struck by Metra Union Pacific North Line train No. 300 about 5 a.m. Tuesday near the Clybourn Avenue station.

Service was disrupted on the North Line -- both inbound and outbound -- Tuesday morning and commuters were asked to take CTA Purple Line trains instead.

An autopsy Wednesday found the man died of multiple injuries caused by a train striking a pedestrian, and his death was ruled a suicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

From an email: Mike Bardash committed suicide by jumping in front of an express train in Chicago, IL in the early morning of April 1, 2008. It took several days before his body could be identified. The only website that bothered to go back and report that he had been identified was WBBM 780 and they have now deleted that article. There was no public funeral, no obituary. I thought at least I could give him this.

Mike was 41 and had been an entrepreneur and boxer his whole life. He had recently started a business at a fitness center in Aurora where he taught various boxing classes and gave private coaching lessons. He was always smiling, had a great sense of humor and was an all-around great guy. I always sensed that he had never been truly successful in his life, with money, women, work or otherwise but I never expected him to do this. Mike, we all miss you and wish you were still here.
