Officials are investigating the death of a Fort Bragg soldier who died while at home on leave from her deployment to Iraq.

Sgt. Kendale Blaine Carney was found unresponsive at her mother's home in Hamlet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The 28-year-old was taken to Sandhills Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Fort Bragg spokeswoman Maj. Angela Funaro says foul play was not thought to be a factor in Carney's death.

Carney was a food service specialist assigned to the 503rd Maintenance Company, 7th Transportation Battalion, 507th Corps Support Group. Officials did not know how long she had been on leave, or how long she had been deployed to Iraq.

Officials said memorial services were expected to be held in Iraq and at Fort Bragg.
