The death of a Sun Prairie teenager who lost control of her car in Dane County on Thursday night is being attributed to slippery roads.

Dane County sheriff's officials said that Carly Batz, 16, slid into oncoming traffic in the Town of Bristol. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The incident happened on Wilburn Road, near the intersection of Happy Valley Road. Authorities said that Dane County sheriff's deputies, Sun Prairie and the Burke/Bristol fire departments and a MedFlight helicopter responded to the scene of the crash. Sun Prairie police and the Wisconsin State Patrol also assisted with directing traffic near the crash site.

Investigators said that they believe Batz's 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling northbound on Wilburn Road when she lost control of the vehicle and slid into the southbound lane of traffic. Her vehicle was struck by a 1977 Cadillac Deville heading southbound.

Batz was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, authorities said.
