A motorcycle crash east of Fort Myers left an 18-year-old man dead and a 16-year-old girl critically injured Sunday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Shawn E. Temple, 18, of Alva, and Elizabeth Selenke, 16, of Fort Myers, were heading eastbound on SR-80 approaching I-75 when Temple ran a red light and hit a car making a left turn.

As of 9:55 a.m., Selenke was still listed in critical condition.

He and Selenke, the passenger, were thrown from the motorcycle.

Temple died at the scene of the crash, and Selenke, suffering from severe head injuries, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the car, Aziza Hajj, 19, of Fort Myers, suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.

The time of the crash was 12:10 a.m., according to the report.
