On November 8, 2008 at 12:13 p.m. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies and Rancho Cordova Police Department officers responded to a call from a woman who said she had gone to her 21-year-old-daughter's apartment, which is located in the 7500 block of Diamond Ranch Road, and found her dead. Officers arrived and found the victim, Jamay Sticca, lying in the living area of the apartment, she was unconscious and unresponsive. Paramedics arrived a short time later and pronounced her dead at the scene.

On November 10, 2008, the Sacramento County Coroner's Office determined Sticca's death was caused by a knife wound and the manner of death was homicide.

Sheriff's Homicide detectives had learned Sticca had been living in her apartment with her 24-year-old boyfriend and they were interested in talking to him to learn what, if anything, he knew about Sticca's death. This afternoon at 3:36 p.m., detectives tracked the boyfriend to an apartment located in the 2000 block of San Juan Road. The detectives knocked at the door of the apartment and it was answered by an adult female who lived there. As the detectives were talking to the woman they saw a man, matching the description of the subject they were looking for, run into a back room of the apartment. The detectives followed the subject and found him in the act of stabbing himself with a knife. Paramedics were called and upon their arrival they pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The subject's suicide occurred within the Sacramento city limits and it will be investigated by the Sacramento Police Department.

The investigation into Sticca's homicide will continue. Anyone with information about this case is urged to call Sheriff's Homicide detectives at (916) 874-5115 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.
