Ingrid Marath Carlson
Our loving and heroic friend Ingrid Marath Carlson passed away suddenly October 30th. Born June 18, 1981, Ingrid lived most of her life in Berkeley and attended Berkeley schools. She graduated from Maybeck High School, and enrolled at San Francisco State University planning to major in art. Bitten early by the travel bug, Ingrid spent much of her free time traveling to Spain, Cuba, Italy and Egypt among other countries. Four years ago she went to Argentina to take part in a tango competition. She spent one summer in France with friends, living in a tent and helping rebuild an ancient church for the organization Youth For Understanding. After that summer, she transferred to Cal State University Monterey Bay and began a major in International Studies. As part of this program, she traveled to Educador to work with children in 2005. She is survived by her parents, Julia Rosenthal and Charles Carlson, her brothers, her grandmother Mary Lou Schram, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be missed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Ingrid's name be made to Doctors Without Borders: www. doctorswithoutborders.org 888.392.0392
