McArthur, Robert William, born Robert William Lee, 43, of Pearland, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008. He was born June 23, 1964 outside of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. An avid and accomplished sailor, "Captain Bob" moved to Houston in 1990 from Toronto and quickly established himself in the sailing community around Galveston Bay. For years he and his dog Skippy were common sights at weekend races or the various marinas around the bay in one of the different boats he owned. Bob loved sailing, riding his motorcycle across the state and traveling across the world. Sailing adventures took him sailing in San Francisco Bay, Lake Ontario, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea on boats from a skiff to a four-masted clipper ship. A self-taught snow skier, Bob gathered trophies for ski jumping and the downhill slalom. An adventurer by nature Bob owned vehicles that varied from an Iraqi taxi to the quintessential Texas pickup to a Nissan 300Z. Where many people are told they need to 'get a life', Bob got one and lived it to the fullest. He is survived by a brother, Darryn, his adopted father, Mike, and hundreds of friends.
We are having a memorial remembrance at Sam's Boat on Richmond, Saturday the 12th. We will be drinking Murphy's Red beer and Don Julio tequila (both at Bob's request). Food is available as well.
Please join us on Saturday to say goodbye to a dear friend. Please forward to all those you feel Bob would like to attend.
