Travis Allen Smith, 30, of Rockville, and formerly Rosedale, died at 2 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on U.S. Highway 41, south of Rockville. He was employed at TGI Fridays in Terre Haute. He was born on Oct. 16, 1978, in Fort Polk, La., to James Smith and Nona Lynn Stabler Smith.
Survivors include his father, James Smith and stepmother Debra Smith of Terre Haute; his mother, Nona Lynn Brown and his stepfather Phillip R. "Bud" Brown of Rockville; one stepbrother, Doug Brown and his wife Lori Brown of Rockville; two stepsisters, Janet Clark and her husband Bill Clark of Danville, Ind., and Kim Cooper and her husband Jeff Cooper of Rockville; one half-brother, Jordan Smith of Terre Haute; his paternal grandparents, Walter and Wanda Lowe of Terre Haute; several aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Daisey.
He attended Friendly Grove Baptist Church in Rosedale. He was a 1997 graduate of Riverton Parke High School and attended Vincennes University and Indiana State University. He loved to go bowling, enjoyed playing softball and loved his dog Daisey.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, in Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 Main St., in Rosedale, with the Revs. Perry Mager and Dana J. Spurgeon officiating. Burial will follow services in Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, in the funeral home, Rosedale. Memorial contributions, if friends so desire may be made in his name to Parke Vermillion Humane Society, PO Box 155, Rockville, IN 47872 in his memory.
