A 15-year-old boy died in a car crash Wednesday morning when he apparently wrecked a rental car that he had stolen from his mother.

Fort Worth Police say the wreck happened sometime overnight in a parking lot near the intersection of Beach Street and Tarrant Parkway in North Fort Worth.

Police say the car, a Toyota Prius, crashed into a light pole in the parking lot. The driver died in the crash and was still behind the wheel.

At about the same time officers discovered the crashed car, the woman who rented it was reporting to police that her 15-year-old son had stolen it.

That 15-year-old was the driver of the crashed Prius.

Police say last week, the teenager stole his mother's car and crashed it. She rented the Prius while her own car was in the repair shop.

Police have not yet released the name of the boy who died.

Fort Worth Police are looking for anyone who might have witnessed the wreck. If you saw it, you're asked to call police at 817.871.7110.
