It's a story about a tragic loss and an unexpected gain. A St. Paul grandfather gets the ultimate gift from his grandson.

13-year-old James Weldon Jr.'s story is just as sad as it is extraordinary. "He really believed in family," says his father.

James was known simply as Junior by his family. Born with breathing problems, he used a Nebulizer or inhaler every day.

Last week, it wasn't enough. A severe asthma attack led to complications, and Junior died of cardiac arrest.

"He did a lot of good while he was here. And he's still doing a lot of good."

In the moments of stress and sorrow that followed his death, Junior's parents made a decision. They wanted to donate his organs, that his death might bring others' life.

James Crenshaw is Junior's grandfather -- and the recipient of one of his kidneys. He;s been on dialysis three days a week for almost two years, and thought he'd be on the donor waiting list for many to come.

"All I can say is he's an angel got to me. Miracles do happen," says James.
