AXTON - Ryan Scott McCubbins, 18, of 2488 Sandy River Road, Axton, VA died suddenly at his residence on Sunday March 15, 2009.
Ryan was born in Danville on March 5, 1991 a son of Larry Wayne Gravely, II and Kelly McCubbins Bray. He had lived all of his life in Pittsylvania County and in the Axton Community of Henry County.
Ryan was a senior at Magna Vista High School where he was an Honor Roll student and he was also enrolled in Patrick Henry Community College. He had attended Tunstall High School prior to transferring to Magna Vista. While at Tunstall he was active with the Scale Team, the Drama Club and served on the staff of the Trojan Messenger. Ryan was a member of Mount Calvary Church where he was very active with the Youth programs.
Ryan is survived by his mother Kelly McCubbins Bray and husband Jeff of the residence, his maternal grandfather Gary C. McCubbins of Danville, his Paternal Grandparents Larry and Pat Gravely of Bassett, VA.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. from Mount Calvary Church by the Rev. Gary Robertson, Rev. Blake Edwards and Rev. Reggie Steele. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday night from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Mount Calvary Church Youth Department, 350 A.L. Philpott Hwy, Axton, VA 24054. Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Homes and Cremation Services Westover Chapel is serving the McCubbins family.
