A 35-year-old Murrells Inlet woman died Monday night after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing U.S. 17 Business, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Paul Brouthers.
Michelle L. McCormick was walking east crossing U.S. 17 Business at Stanley Drive just before 10 p.m. Monday when she was struck, Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said. McCormick was transported by EMS to Waccamaw Hospital where she died in the emergency room, Edge said.
McCormick was struck by a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a Garden City Beach man, Brouthers said. The vehicle was northbound in the right lane of the road when the crash occurred.
McCormick was shown at fault in the crash and no charges will be filed against the 29-year-old driver, Brouthers said.
