A 17-year-old Canyon del Oro student found dead in his bathroom over spring break died of acute heroin toxicity, according to an autopsy report released Wednesday.

Evan Cueto was found by his mother March 18 in their home in the 800 block of West Calle Ranunculo, near West Hardy Road and North La CaƱada Drive.

According to the autopsy report, he was unresponsive and had a metal spoon, a lighter and syringes with him.

Evan was on spring break and had a friend over who stayed the night, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

He was the third CDO student to die of an apparent drug overdose in less than a year. A friend described Cueto as a happy person who made people laugh.

Last year, investigators told the Arizona Daily Star that young people were getting hooked on heroin after abusing such prescription pain relievers as OxyContin.
