A slew of shootings and other violence left nine people dead and at least 13 people wounded citywide between early Saturday and early Monday mornings.

The violence began Saturday about 1:30 a.m. when 19-year-old Raymond Parker was fatally shot in a car on the 3200 block of West Ogden Avenue, police said. Parker, of Maywood, suffered two gunshot wounds to his neck and two gunshot wounds to his left arm.

There was no description of the shooter, who police said was traveling in a gray 4-door car.

About one hour later also on the West Side, a 32-year-old man was shot on the sidewalk near his home in the 4800 block of West Polk Street, police said. The man, identified as Terry Johnson, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:42 a.m.

The murder was possibly drug-related, police said.

The shooting continued Saturday night about 10 p.m., when 25-year-old Jessica Bazan was gunned down in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Bazan was in a car when she was shot in an apparent drive-by near 83rd Street and Brandon Avenue, police News Affairs Officer John Henry said.

Bazan, of the 8700 block of S. Baltimore Ave., was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 10:51 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

Early Sunday less than half a mile from where Johnson was killed on the West Side, a 3-year-old Roselle boy was fatally shot in the chest.

Jaquan Reed was shot in a residence in the 4700 block of West Van Buren Street, according to the medical examiner's office.

Police initially said a weapon was accidentally discharged at the residence and two juveniles were on the scene. No charges had been filed as of Monday morning.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office ruled Jaquan's death a homicide after a Sunday autopsy.

Another shooting early Sunday also left 19-year-old Anthony Thompson dead outside a West Side McDonald's restaurant about 12:30 a.m., police said.

Thomson, of 105 N. Pine Ave., was fatally shot in the 5100 block of West North Avenue, according to the medical examiner's office.

Later in the day, a woman who is believed to have been murdered was found slumped over the wheel of a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville parked in the 7100 block of South Bell Avenue about 1:15 p.m., police said.

The woman, who remains unidentified Monday morning, had suffered at least one puncture wound to her abdomen, according to police. An autopsy will be conducted later Monday.

Also Sunday, Jessie Gaston was slain in a shooting about 8:30 p.m. at 3838 S. Wells St, police News Affairs said.

Gaston, 37, of the 3800 block of S. Wells St., was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead on the scene, the medical examiner's office said. No one was in custody for that murder early Monday.

The violence continued into the early morning hours of Monday when 29-year-old Tammy McClellan was found stabbed inside her home int the the 8900 block of S. Hermitage Ave. about 12:58 a.m., News Affairs said.

McClellan suffered multiple stab wounds, the medical examiner's office said.

Police believe the stabbing stemmed from a domestic incident and a male suspect was seen fleeing the scene of the murder. A child was found by police.

Just minutes later at 1 a.m., 70-year-old Floyd Butler was found dead by his son and possibly the son's cousin inside his home in the the 7300 block of S. Merrill Ave., police said. A back door of the home was found kicked in.

Butler suffered a shotgun wound to the head, according to the medical examiner's office.

At least 13 other people were wounded in shootings citywide over the weekend, including a downtown shooting outside of the House of Blues and a police-involved shooting on the Southwest Side.

Joshua Wheaton, 22, of the 8900 block of South Richmond Avenue in Evergreen Park, and Adam Hurtado, 21, of the 5900 block of South Fairfield Avenue, were charged in a police-involved shooting that occurred early Sunday in the 5400 block of South Homan Avenue. Wheaton allegedly pointed a gun at officers and an officer discharged his weapon, striking Wheaton.

Wheaton was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital in "stable" condition, according to News Affairs. No other injuries were reported in the incident and a weapon was recovered on the scene.

Two separate and unrelated police-involved shootings occurred Sunday on the Near West and South sides.

Samuel McClain, 29, of the 1200 block of W. 14th St., was charged after allegedly pointing a gun at police at 1409 S. Throop St. Police fired their weapons but did not strike McClain.

Derrick Carr, of the 8000 block of S. Emerald Ave., was charged for pointing a gun at police at 8004 S. Union Ave., according to police who said officers fired at Carr but did not hit him.

All four men are expected in bond court later Monday.
