Tragedy strikes a Clovis family.

44-year-old U.S. Navy Commander Luther Hook was flying his twin-engine Cessna when the plane went down in this field, near the Fallon Municipal Airport, in northern Nevada.

On board, his three young daughters, All residents of Clovis.

The family asked to grieve in private Saturday evening, but shared pictures of the girls with the media.

15-year-old Kaitlyn Hook, 12-year-old Rachel Hook, and 9-year-old Mackenzie Hook all died in the crash.

At the scene of the crash in Fallon, investigators continue to search for answers.

Commander Hook was the number two Officer at the naval air station in Fallon.

He has over 2700 hours in the FA-18 jet.

Family members say commander hook would fly to Fresno to pick up the girls every Friday to take them to Fallon for the weekend, then fly them back on Sundays.

"The loss has been a shock to all of us. Commander Hook was very warm and outgoing, very friendly, very easy to work for and certainly it comes as a shock and a surprise," said Fallon Public Affairs Officer Zip Upham.

Witnesses told authorities that the plane appeared to be in distress and was maneuvering erratically shortly crashing, near the Fallon Municipal Airport.

"I have reviewed a recording of a transmission that appears to be by the pilot but there is no indication of any anomalies. He was just making normal traffic calls," said National Transportation Safety Board investigator Patrick Jones.

The NTSB and the FAA are looking at the weather and the aircraft itself.

There were gusty winds at the time of the accident.

It may take several days before investigators figure out what caused the crash.
