Barbur Boulevard was closed for several hours Wednesday evening, April 22, when a man and a woman died after crashing a 2007 Honda B60 motorcycle into a pickup truck at a high rate of speed.

A police spokeswoman said numerous reports came in of 20-year-old Andrew Roy Berg and his passenger, 18-year-old Hayley McKenzie Emmons, weaving the Honda motorcycle in and out of traffic "very, very fast" on Barbur Boulevard moments before the collision at about 6:35 p.m. near Southwest Parkhill Drive.

An Idaho man driving a 2002 Ford F-250 pickup was making a legal left turn from Parkhill Drive at the time of the collision. The driver "cooperated fully with police" and was not cited, added Portland Police Bureau spokeswoman Det. Mary Wheat.

Wheat said it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved. She also could not confirm reports that Berg was racing with another motorcycle.

The motorcycle, she added, "was, obviously, destroyed, as well as the bodies."

Fox 12 News reported that Berg graduated from Tigard High School two years ago, while Emmons graduated last year from Canby High School.
