State Police are investigating the cause of a head-on crash in Fowler that killed a Gouverneur teen.

Police say it happened while Jesse McEathron, 18, was driving home from a friend's house around 11 p.m. Wednesday. He was heading north on State Route 58 near Country Club road when he was hit by an oncoming car. McEathron was pronounced dead at EJ Noble hospital in Gouverneur

Police say the crash happened after the other driver, Robin Fowler, 25, drifted into McEathron's lane, and they're piecing together the events that led to the collision.

"Our collision reconstruction unit out of Raybrook was called in to assist with the investigation and the vehicles have been moved to our Raybrook headquarters in order to complete that investigation," said Tracy Eggleston, Senior Investigator for the State Police.

Fowler was also taken to EJ Noble and then transported to University Hospital in Syracuse where he is listed in serious condition. Police say charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
