A Grand Prairie man has died of injuries he received late Saturday in a boating accident on Joe Pool Lake, according to reports.

Johnny Brown, 25, died at 7:48 p.m. Monday at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, the Tarrant County medical examiner's office reported.

Emergency personnel were summoned at about 11:08 p.m. Saturday to Lynn Creek Marina, near the location of the accident, said Detective John Brimmer, Grand Prairie police spokesman.

Officers learned that Brown was on a boat with a group of people who said they saw another boat nearly cut in front of them, and the person who was piloting their boat decelerated to avoid a collision, Brimmer said.

Brown was standing on the bow of the boat, Brimmer said. The sudden braking action, he added, forced Brown overboard.

The boat went over Brown, and he was struck in the head by the propeller, Brimmer said, "causing a pretty massive head injury."

Brown first was taken to Medical Center of Arlington and then was taken by helicopter ambulance to JPS, where he died Tuesday evening.

Brown was the eighth person in 2008 to die from injuries suffered at Joe Pool Lake.
