On Saturday, Chief Warrant Officer Dale Benton died of cancer at the age of 39. About six months ago he went to the base clinic here complaining of migraines. The clinic gave him Motrin and sent him on his way. About a week later he collapsed at work. When they got him to the emergency room they found he had advanced cancer that had metastasized throughout a large portion of his body. They gave him a couple months to live, but he hung on for six.

He was our maintenance control officer and a good guy to work for. Funeral services are tomorrow.
