Marwa Akway Omot was 23 year old; he came to US from Ethiopia in 1996. As a 16-year old, he took part in the Walker Art Center's 2002 project.
Marwa died and boaters found his body. Police say people on a cruise ship spotted Omot's body around 1 p.m. on Sunday August 9, 2009 near Boom Island Park in Mississippi River.


The funeral for Marwa Akway Omot will be on Saturday August 22, 2009.


Marwa Akway Omot parent will sincerely miss him. We (Anyuak community) lift up our thoughts and prayers to his parent. Marwa was an integral part of A4L Boy music star and rising soccer player. Marwa as A4L Boy music star will continue to live on in our hearts and in the hearts of countless Anyuak youth throughout US especially in Minnesota. It is a big loses for Anyuak youth and Anyuak community in general throughout the globe because his life was cut very short before he makes a difference in the world. We will remember him always and will be grateful for all of the wonderful memories. Rest in peace Marwa Akway Omot.
