Chauncy J. Sobkowicz, 22, Noonan Road, Fort Johnson, died Saturday afternoon in the town of Johnstown from injuries sustained in a tractor accident.

He was born in Amsterdam on January 19, 1987, a son of Scott D. and Teresa Zoldak Sobkowicz and resided in the town of Perth all of his life. Chauncy graduated with high honors in 2005 from Broadalbin-Perth Central High School. He graduated in May 2009 with honors from the State University of New York at Cortland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood Education. Chauncy was due to student teach in local schools for the fall semester.

Chauncy was employed for several summers at Don Brown Bus Sales in Johnstown as shop technician for more than 6 years. He enjoyed working with classic cars and was so proud of those he owned. He also enjoyed spending time boating with family and friends.

Survivors include: his parents, Scott and Teresa Sobkowicz of Perth; a brother, Thomas M. Sobkowicz, who is currently serving with the U.S. Air Force in Afghanistan; his paternal grandparents, Donald and Gaile Sobkowicz of Perth; 5 uncles, Christopher Sobkowicz and John, Peter, Terry and Julian Zoldak; 2 aunts, Donna Carey and Bernice Zoldak; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Jozef and Aniela Zoldak.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church with the Reverend David Mickiewicz presiding. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
