A Pembroke Pines man accused of fatally shooting another man outside a Davie pool hall was ordered held without bail this morning.

Jeffrey Chidsey, 23, is charged with murder in the death of Cameron Fritzson, 21, who was shot outside Beyond Billiards on Monday morning, police said.

Chidsey was arrested at 10:45 a.m. Monday in Pembroke Pines. He appeared before County Judge John Hurley this morning.

Chidsey and Fritzson were among several people who exited the bar on the 5700 block of South University Drive just before the shooting occurred about 2 a.m., according to an arrest report Hurley read aloud during this morning's bond hearing.

A witness tried to take Chidsey's car keys from him "because she felt that he was too impaired to drive," Hurley said, reading from the arrest report.

At some point, Chidsey and Fritzson began fighting, the judge said. After the fight was broken up, Chidsey returned to his vehicle to grab a handgun, and he was seen removing the handgun from his glove compartment, Hurley said.

Chidsey told the victim that he wanted to fight him, pushed a witness away and fired three shots in the ground, Hurley said. Chidsey then walked toward the victim with the gun in his hand, Hurley said.

"The victim stated, 'You gonna pull a gun on me? A gun on me? You better shoot me,'" Hurley said.

Witnesses said they then saw Chidsey aim the handgun at the victim and pull the trigger, Hurley said.

Chidsey then allegedly left the scene in a black Nissan Maxima, Hurley said.

Chidsey and Fritzson were acquaintances, according to Fritzson's stepbrother, Brandon Herkert, 21, of Plantation. Herkert said witnesses told him Fritzson had assaulted Chidsey, who then went to his car to get a gun.

Michael Dutko, Chidsey's attorney, said his law firm would conduct its own investigation into the fatal shooting, including interviewing witnesses. He said it was too early to comment further on the case.

Chidsey's family members in Cooper City refused to comment.

Chidsey has no criminal record in Florida.
