People who want to pay their respects to Army Sgt. Christopher Rudzinski of Rantoul, killed in Afghanistan earlier this month, may want to stand along the route that will be taken to get his body to Rantoul this morning.

Lux Memorial Chapel director Leslie Lux said the military aircraft bringing his body from Dover Air Force Base is scheduled to arrive at Willard Airport in Savoy at 10 a.m. today. Sgt. Rudzinski's father and brother flew to Delaware to accompany him back, she said.

The hearse will be escorted to Rantoul by representatives of several area police and fire agencies. Lux said it is expected to arrive in town about 11 a.m.

The motorcade will go south on U.S. 45 to the Monticello Road, then west on Monticello Road to Interstate 57 north. The procession will get off I-57 at the exit for U.S. 136, then go straight to Lux's for Sgt. Rudzinski's family to have private time with him.

The public may attend visitation from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the Rantoul Township High School gymnasium, followed by a 7 p.m. memorial service at the school gym.

His funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Malachy Church in Rantoul with graveside services to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, U.S. 136 East, Rantoul.
