Investigators have determined that the 24-year-old Aloha woman who was hit and killed by a Blue Line MAX train shortly after 10 a.m was wearing headphones.

Sydney Meryl Coleman was walking with her head down and did not look up before stepping front of the path of the train at Southwest Baseline Road, Beaverton Police spokesperson Det. Pam Yazzolino said. Coleman was also wearing headphones connected to an iPod and was wearing a hood, she said, possible reasons she missed audible and visual warnings that the train was approaching.

Investigators do not have reason to believe Coleman committed suicide, Yazzolino said.

Southwest Baseline Road was closed from Southwest 173rd Avenue to Southwest 177th Avenue for several hours. Westside MAX service was suspended as well and shuttle buses were used to transport riders.
