A deadly crash in the Santa Maria Valley claimed the life of a young man from Santa Maria.

The CHP has identified the victim as 24-year old David Tognazzini.

His body and wrecked car were found late Thursday afternoon on Brown road, near the intersection of Betteravia.

Just before 3:00pm Thursday, a worker at Western Farm Supply noticed water flooding an area of the plant.

When he went to investigate, he found a car had crashed into a fire hydrant.

The driver of the car had been ejected.

Officers say Tognazzini lost control, crossed over railroad tracks and flipped through a chain link fence.

Police think alcohol played a role in the crash.
