Nathan D. Bakes, 21, of Paw Paw died Dec. 4, 2009 at Mendota Community Hospital from injuries received in a car accident.

A Catholic mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at St. James Catholic Church in Lee with full military rites. Rev. Bonaventure Okoro will officiate. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at the Torman Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Mr. Bakes was born Jan. 12, 1988 in Winfield to David and Cheri (Hoefle) Bakes.

Survivors include his father, David Bakes of Rochelle; two sisters, Sarah (Brent) Lindaman of Hopedale and Emily Bakes of Rochelle; and his grandmothers, Muriel Hoefle of Warrenville and Bernice Hinrich of DeKalb.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Mr. Bakes was a Specialist in the Illinois Army National Guard Unit 661st Engineer Co. and also farmed in Paw Paw. He was a 2006 graduate of Paw Paw High School.
