Ashley Lynn Tollett, a double-lung transplant recipient and a central appointment scheduler for VMG Williamson County, died Dec. 9. She was 22.

Tollett was diagnosed with Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) as a teen. The rare, progressive lung disease primarily affects women. The lung capacity of LAM patients declines resulting in the need for oxygen therapy and eventually a transplant.
"Ashley inspired others with her enthusiasm and helped many who suffered from LAM with her encouragement and hopeful outlook for the future," said Elaine Purdy, Manager Patient Access for the Orthopaedic Patient Care Center. "Ashley enjoyed life and lived courageously as she faced straight on the challenges of her disease."

At 19 years old, Tollett received her transplant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was very active in organ recruitment efforts and a member of the LAM organization.
Tollett will be remembered for her attitude and infectious smile.
"I only knew Ashley for a few months, but she was the most positive person I have ever met," said Richard Landon, VMG central appointment scheduler. "She enjoyed talking and helping patients. She always talked about her transplant experience and almost always asked everyone 'are you a donor?'"

Funeral services for Tollett were held in her hometown of Crossville, Tenn. She is survived by father Anthony Tollett and wife Debra, mother Linda Eichner and husband Jim, sisters Alisha Jackson and Rachel Boles and brothers Elijah Tollett and Chase Eichner.
