Scott M. Karella died at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska on December 6, 2009 after a brief illness, at the age of 22 years, 6 months and 26 days.

Private family services were conducted in Soldotna, Alaska; inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date in Soldotna. A Memorial Mass for Scott will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Elgin, NE, Fr. Bernard Starman presiding.

Scott Martin Karella the son of Stanley and Sandra (Starman) Karella was born on May 10, 1987 at Norfolk, Nebraska. He was baptized at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Elgin, NE on June 14, 1987. Scott and his family returned from Nebraska, to his fathers' hometown of Soldotna, Alaska in 1988. He attended Soldotna Public Schools and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Soldotna.

He is survived by his daughter Anastasia Karella, his father, Stanley Karella of Phoenix, Az., his mother and stepfather Sandra and William Winn of College Station, Washington, his sister and brother in-law Sara and Joe Dennis of Soldotna, Alaska. Uncle David Karella, Aunt Rosemary Macko, Aunt and Uncle Kathy and Earl Korynta all of Alaska. Grandparents, Norbert and Jeanette (Kluthe) Starman of rural Elgin, NE, uncle, Rev. Bernard G. Starman of Omaha, NE, and many other relatives and friends.

Scott is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Clara M. Starman, his paternal grandparents, Anastos "Shorty" & Mary (Owens) Karella.
