The woman killed in a collision at the northbound Clark Avenue offramp in Santa Maria Sunday has been identified as Grace Kaskie of Illinois, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Kaskie, 21, of Golf, Ill. was driving a Toyota Highlander at about 3:40 p.m. when she attempted a left turn onto the Clark Avenue overpass and was broadsided by a Chevy truck headed eastbound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her sister, Emily Kaskie, 26, was airlifted to Cottage Hospital in critical condition, the CHP said.

John Norris, 49, of Orcutt, the truck's driver, was treated and released at the scene, said CHP Officer Rob Wallace.

The Highlander had halted at the stop sign at the end of the northbound Highway 101 offramp onto Clark Avenue in Orcutt when it suddenly lurched forward, apparently headed left onto the Clark Avenue overpass, according to the CHP. The truck then collided with the Highlander, hitting the driver's side.

The Jaws of Life were used to extricate both women from the Highlander.
