Sarah F. Hamilton, 27, went home to her Heavenly Father's loving arms on August 19, 2010.

Preceded in death by her father, Tom Hamilton; her aunt, Carol; her uncle, Warner and grandparents. Sarah is survived by her mother, Jan; sister, Katy (Nick) Chaplin; nephews, Logan and Mattie; many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous loyal friends.

For the past six years, Sarah battled breast cancer. She was determined not to let cancer define her. Instead, she armed herself with courage and knowledge. Through all of the challenges of chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, and other high-tech therapies, Sarah received her Bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of Akron in May of 2006. She was employed by AmTrust Bank in Cleveland until her disease caught up to her.

Sarah was an outgoing, vibrant, and loving young woman. She had a self-confidence that provided her with the ability to connect with people on many levels. Sarah had many friends and she fulfilled many roles in their lives. Her sense of humor was her greatest gift. For some, Sarah was the patient listener. For others, she was their strength when they felt vulnerable and for many others she was their turn-to person for a wide variety of needs. Sarah never complained, nor did she dwell on ''what if', or ''why-me', rather, she turned all her energies to be there for those who needed her in whatever way she could. Sarah was loving and gentle, and always ready to make room in her heart for one more friend. Sarah will be missed by many.

Her family brought her great comfort and joy. She was a loving aunt to Logan (aka Logan-berry) and to Mattie. Her sister, Katy, was not only her sister, but best friend as well. Sarah loved her parents and deeply felt the loss of her dad in 2009.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration of Sarah's life will be held on Saturday, August 28, 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Akron, 292 E. Market St., Akron 44308.

Her mother and sister would like to express their deepest gratitude for the wonderful care she received at the McDowell Cancer Center, and especially to Dr. Jennifer Payne at Summit Oncology. Sarah loved the staff there and always felt special. Also, a special thank you to the wonderful and compassionate staff at VNS Hospice on Ridgewood Road who helped make the end of her journey comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that should you wish, please make a donation to Hospice, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333.
