Police arrested a Bay Shore man Saturday evening for stabbing his estranged wife to death during a visit with their 6-year-old son.

Police say they responded to 407 East Main St., Apt. 8B in Bay Shore at 7:10 p.m. after a 911 caller reported that a woman had been stabbed. When officers arrived, they found Monica Paul, 40, a resident of the apartment, had been stabbed to death by her husband, Wesley Paul, 38.

Police say the child was unhurt and did not witness the killing. He was playing outside during the fight. Wesley was treated for injuries sustained during the struggle with his wife.

Wesley Paul is charged with murder.
