Raynada Jones, 42, has been charged in the killing of a Lansing Township woman.

Jones was charged in court Friday with open murder, home invasion in the first degree and carrying a concealed weapon.

Twenty-two-year-old Megan Collins was the victim, found dead Thursday morning in her apartment at Windemere Village, with multiple stab wounds.

According to police, Jones -- who used to date Megan -- entered her room just before 1 a.m., stabbed Megan to death and then fled in her truck. Officials tracked him down that same day.

Friday friends crowded Megan's Facebook page with messages of "RIP Megan" and "You will be missed."

"When I found out, I just cried," said Kristina Pierce, a friend of Megan's.

She believes Jones is the culprit. She says he was physically abusive to Megan, eventually forcing her to take out a restraining order against him -- just two weeks before her murder.

"He'd hit her; punch her; slap her; kick her; scream at her; yell at her; throw stuff at her. He didn't care," Pierce said.

Magistrate James Pahl said Jones has already served time for assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

He is being held without bond at the Ingham County Jail.

News 10 was able to talk with Megan's family in Potterville. They say Megan, who graduated from Potterville High in 2005, was a loving sister, aunt and daughter. Her older sister Olivia wrote a good-bye message on her Facebook wall: "I just can't fix this one, FLY FREE BIRD."

"He should get what they did to her," Pierce said of Jones, who used a butcher knife in the slaying, according to police. "He should see what it's like to deal with pain."

For now, justice is all the friends and family of Megan Collins can hope for.
