A Pahrump, Nevada teen's body was recovered from Lake Mohave late Saturday night, after an incident early in the day involving cliff diving with his friends near Placer Cove.

Around 4:30 p.m., 18-year-old Dean Berhow Jr. and his friends were diving from cliffs near Placer Cove, when according to witnesses, Berhow jumped in the water from a 30 foot high cliff. A friend dove in right after him, but did not see that Berhow had not cleared the area.

The friend said he landed on the victim and saw him start to sink underwater. Three other friends who witnessed the incident jumped in to attempt a rescue Berhow but said their friend's body was sinking too fast.

The National Park Services with assistance from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Dive Team responded to the scene. Divers recovered the body of the teen from approximately 50 feet of water at 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Family and friends of Berhow are holding a candlelight vigil Monday night at the Desert Breeze Soccer Field at Spring Mountain and Durango from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The family has also set up an account to help pay for funeral expenses. If you would like to help, go to any Wells Fargo branch and ask for the Dean Alan Berhow, Jr. account.
