The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department said Friday that the 15-year-old girl whose burned body was found near Santa Margarita on Sunday is Dystiny Myers of Santa Maria.
The department would not release additional details about Myers' death, saying that the investigation is ongoing. Little was known Friday about the teen, including how she was connected to those suspected of killing her.

The Rev. Rick Bloom - pastor of Pacific Christian Center in Santa Maria - who had emerged as a spokesman for Myers' family, told the Santa Maria Times later on Friday that he was asked not to comment further.
Five people have been arrested in connection with the killing. All pleaded not guilty Thursday to murder charges.
The suspects are Jason Adam Greenwell, 20, Frank Jacob York, 19, and Rhonda Maye Wisto, 47, all of Nipomo; Ty Michael Hill, 28, of Santa Maria; and Cody Lane Miller, 22, of Fresno.
All are being held without bail at County Jail.
The preliminary hearing for the defendants was set for Oct. 15. In that hearing, prosecutors will have to show enough evidence to convince a judge that a trial is warranted.
The five are accused of murder after firefighters found Myers' burned remains shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday off Parkhill Road in a remote area south of Highway 58, about six miles east of Santa Margarita.
Authorities wouldn't disclose the teen's name right away because investigators were trying to contact her out-of-state father. Autopsy results are pending a toxicology report, which is expected sometime in the coming weeks.
A profile page on the MySpace online social network listed under Myers' name and hometown depicts a lifestyle of drug and alcohol use and hard partying. Comments attributed to the page's username describe how she liked to drink hard liquor and loved smoking marijuana, and threatened bloodshed against anyone who hurt her friends.
Photos linked to the profile page - last updated about a week before Myers' body was found - show the girl listed as the page's owner at parties, drinking beer and having tattoos on her chest, as well as a pierced lip.
The Tribune is not publishing the photos because they contain images of other individuals, and it could not confirm the identity of the page owner pictured.
