A Garces High School graduate was shot and killed by Fresno police officers after they say he pointed a gun at them, according to the Fresno Police department.
Rod Fiorini, 23 was pronounced dead Tuesday evening at a hospital.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer told the Fresno Bee that a woman called police and said her roommate was high and was firing a rifle in the backyard of a home in the Tower District neighborhood.
Officers found the man holding the rifle on the front porch. Fiorini was ordered to drop the weapon, but instead he went into the street and pointed the barrel in the direction of seven officers and a sergeant, according to Dyer. Officers opened fire, killing him.
Dyer said it is unclear whether the rifleman fired but no officers were hurt.
