An early morning car crash in Randolph
County, IL claims the life of a Murphysboro Lady Red Devil's basketball player.

Around 5 a.m. on Saturday, police were called to the scene of the
deadly crash near the intersection of County Road 5, and Wine Hill
Road.

When officers arrived they found three people, and a Jeep flipped off
the side of the road.

Halylie Hines, 18, was pronounced dead, Chris Allen, 21, was flown to
a St. Louis hospital in critical condition, and Jacob Bryant, 20, was
taken to Chester Hospital.

Bryant was also the owner of the Jeep and was released from the
hospital Saturday afternoon.

The Hines' family is just beginning to mourn Halylie's death.

"She was always doing funny things and joking around," said Rhonda
Hines, Halylie's mother. "She was friends with everybody, there was
never a dull moment."

Rhonda Hines says, Halylie enjoyed sports from an early age as a young
softball player, and her skills on the hardwoods became evident as she
got older.

"When she and her sisters were younger they used to be real
competitive, and race around the house and stuff to see who was the
fastest," said Rhonda Hines. "When she was in the 5th Grade she won
the 1-mile run for the 5th graders."

Halylie led the offense for the Murphysboro Lady Red Devils Basketball
Team for the past three years.

During her final year as a Senior lead her team in points, most of the games.

A phone call on Saturday morning is one Halylie's mother will never forget.

"At 7:30 they called and said I needed to come to the hospital, they
didn't tell me it was bad like it was," Hines said. "So I drove all
the way to Chester not knowing, hoping and then I get there and she is
gone. It's just unbelievable."

The visitation services for Halylie Hines are set for Tuesday Feb. 22
from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Murphysboro High School Memorial Gymnasium.

Funeral services will be graveside at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park at
11 a.m., family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

The Randolph County Sheriff's Office is not releasing any information
about the crash at this time. The Illinois State Police assisted the
