The 28-year-old McKinleyville man driving a truck involved in a single-car accident early Monday morning on U.S. Highway 101 north of McKinleyville died later that day after being flown to University of California Davis Medical Center.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office confirmed Wednesday that Dustin Lee Praytor died shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Praytor was driving a 2003 Ford F250 southbound on U.S. Highway 101 just south of the North Central Avenue exit when he allowed his vehicle to drift off the roadway to his right before overcorrecting, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Praytor, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, according to the release, and suffered major head injuries in the crash. Praytor's passengers -- Caleb Eugene Carper, 22, of McKinleyville, and Rye Patrick Hoine, 28, of McKinleyville -- were also injured in the crash.

CHP Sgt. Brett Fabri said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, adding that the wreck remains under investigation.
