An Upton man was killed yesterday morning after the car he was driving veered into oncoming traffic on Fortune Boulevard, police said.
Police said Wesley Rianhard, 26, of 129 South St., was pronounced dead at Milford Regional Medical Center.

Police went to 300 Fortune Blvd., in front of Ira Toyota, for a two-car crash at 8:50 a.m.
Police said Rianhard was driving south in a Toyota Camry when the car veered into the northbound lane and hit a Honda Odyssey van driven by Andrew Ferland, 45, of 299 Adams St., Holliston.

Lt. James Falvey said firefighters used the Jaws of Life tool to free Rianhard, and took both drivers to the hospital.

A spokesman for Milford Regional said Ferland was treated and released yesterday.
The Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council reconstruction team closed the street for several hours as it conducted an investigation.

Mendon Police Chief Ernest Horn, who oversees the regional reconstruction team, said it will try using a data-recording device in one of the cars to gain more information.

"It might give us some information prior to the actual accident to see what happened," Horn said. "...It depends on the make, model or company, but (the data) can show speed, any braking that was going on, what seats were occupied, whether or not seat belts were in use or if the vehicles were accelerating or decelerating."

He said a final report will be handed over to Milford Police in a few weeks.
