Todd County authorities say the preliminary autopsy indicates a 51-year-old Osakis woman died of blunt-force trauma after discovering a burglary in her home.
Sheriff Peter Mikkelson says Diane Fortenberry was attacked Friday when she came home at lunchtime to let her dog out. He says her son found her when he came home Friday afternoon. She was pronounced dead at the Long Prairie hospital.
The sheriff said Saturday that the items taken included a 32-inch Westinghouse flat screen TV, a jewelry box with a large amount of Black Hills gold jewelry, a laptop computer, collector coins and bills, and various other electronic devices.
No suspects are in custody. Mikkelson is asking for anyone who saw anything unusual over the last couple weeks to call the sheriff's office.
