Colorado State Patrol says one of four siblings involved in a car accident on Interstate 25 died Tuesday.

Troopers say the crash happened just before 11 p.m. Tuesday. A Yukon was going northbound when it drifted into the median near exit County Line Road. The driver, 19-year-old Lauren Jewel over-corrected, causing the SUV to roll. The front passenger, 21-year-old Whitney Jewel was pronounced dead on scene. Thomas Jewel, 16, is listed in critical condition at Penrose Hospital. The youngest sister of the group, 13-year-old Merritt Jewel, is in fair condition at Memorial Hospital. Lauren is listed in good condition at Penrose.

The Jewels are all from Colorado Springs.

"It was just shocking to me," said Elder Clint Lasson who goes to church with the Jewels. He says their congregation is now rallying around the family to help them through this tough time.

"We call each other brother and sister and we just pull together and help out when we can," Lasson said.

He and many others from the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints spent the day at the Jewel home, helping them pack. The family was planning to move from Colorado Springs Wednesday.

"We found out they were moving and all of the congregation is getting together to help them out," Lasson said.

Friends say they were headed to Iowa and they are now just praying for this family and helping them mourn.

Officers say drugs or alcohol are not suspected. All of the occupants in the car were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
