MTA police have positively identified the body of the male that was struck and killed by a LIRR train last Thursday near the Higbie Lane crossing.
Salvatore Arena, spokesperson for the LIRR, confirmed that it was the body of 17-year-old Brian Pupke, of West Islip.
Although a Facebook remembrance page entitled "Rest in Peace Brian Pupke" was created as early as Saturday morning, Patch did not immediately receive official confirmation of Pupke's death from LIRR officials.
"He had previously been reported missing to Suffolk County by his parents," Arena said.
According to the MTA, the case is still under investigation.
