A vigil was held Wednesday night for a teenage girl who was shot and killed on her 17th birthday by her ex-boyfriend.

Police say Troy Penn, 18, shot and killed Amanda Borsos, then turned the gun on himself during a SWAT standoff.

Police say Penn went to the Four Paws Pet Care and shot Borsos in the torso at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Borsos was transported to Bethesda North Hospital where she died of her injuries. She would have been a junior at Little Miami High School.

Police then say that Penn went to his home on Rollinghitch Court to hide from the cops. After a standoff with cops and SWAT, Penn was found dead from a shot to a head. Penn was found with a shotgun, which was believed to be the murder weapon.

Friends of the two say the couple broke up on Tuesday.

"He was telling me the other day about how much he loved her and how he loved her more and more everyday," said A.J. York, friend of the two teens.

"He was the kind of person that wasn't trying to bring anybody down, he was always having a good time," said Chris Murrell, friend. "He was not a bad person what so ever."

Penn would have been a senior at Kings High School. Friends of Penn say they are shocked and never expected their friend to do something like this.

"Never ever, I never thought he would do something like this," said York.

"You can never predict something like this happening," said Murrell. "No matter how much you know somebody, you can't imagine it happening."

Several Facebook pages have been created for Amanda and Troy for friends and family to leave their thoughts and condolences.
