A 25-year-old man died Monday from injuries he sustained in a head-on collision from over the weekend, according to released statement from Chattanooga Police Department.

Kevin D. Yates suffered multiple injuries after he was struck by Latisha Stephens on Highway 153 early Sunday morning

His death marks the 11th fatality of the year.

Charges are pending against Stephens.


Investigators responded to the accident just before 2 a.m. and determined that a Jeep Wrangler driven by 32-year-old Latisha D. Stephens was travelling north in the south bound lane, police said.

Stephens hit a Chrysler mini-van driven by 25-year-old Kevin Yates, police said. The collision critically injured Yates who was taken to a local hospital with multiple life threatening injuries.

Stephens was not seriously injured, according to a news release.

Traffic investigators are checking to see if the crash is alcohol related.
