Police in Oklahoma say two former Keokuk residents were killed "execution style" while strolling through a Tulsa park.

The bodies of Carisa Horton, 18, and Ethan Nichols, 21, were found at about 10:45 a.m. Monday.

Both had gunshot wounds to the head, according to police Sgt. Dave Walker, adding the incident appears to be a case of robbery.

The suspects, Darren Price, 19, and Jerard Dewain Davis, 21, are being held without bail, each charged with first-degree murder and robbery.

A police report stated Price and Davis told officers they "ambushed" the pair in the park with the intent to rob them of their valuables and they decided to shoot them after the thievery.

The bodies were found on a trail by another couple walking their dog, Walker said.

An investigation indicated Horton and Nichols went to Hicks Park in Tulsa at 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

When they did not return, Nichols' family made a missing person report. Authorities found a vehicle also reported missing and watched two men get in and drive away.

As police tried to pull the car over, the suspects fled and crashed the car near an entrance of an apartment complex.

They were caught after a short foot chase.

Police stated in their report they found cell phones belonging to Horton and Nichols on Price.

Davis initially was released, but was rearrested after detectives found evidence of his involvement in the murders.

He led police on a brief foot chase when they arrived to arrest him at his apartment at 11 p.m. Monday.

Authorities said they found a 9mm pistol inside the bathroom in Davis' apartment. There are indications, police said, the casings found at the scene of the killings are consistent with the weapon found in the man's home.

Oral Roberts University President Mark Rutland confirmed Horton was a freshman at ORU.
