Danielle Rae Comstock, 24, of Portland, Ore., passed away Friday, Sept. 30 , 2011, due to complications arising from a blood clot.

She was born Nov. 7, 1986, to Shawn Comstock and Winona Harshberger. She attended Burlington High School, where she was an honor roll student. After graduation she entered her true calling in the world of art. At the time of her passing she was pursuing her dream as a solo singer, songwriter and composer. Her other artistic talents included painting, writing poetry and prose. Danielle was an avid reader. Her favorite book was "Finnegan's Wake" by Irish author James Joyce, one of the top 100 English language works of the 20th century. This book had a significant influence on her art. She was a popular talent in Portland, giving live performances, selling her art and CDs of her own music. Danielle became a confident young woman after moving to Portland and excelled at her true gift in life, which was the ability to make friends with anyone she met, everywhere she went. She was an organ donor. She was a free spirit. Gone, but forever in our hearts.

She is survived by an extended family. Her father, Shawn Comstock and his wife, Brenda, New Strawn; her mother, Winona With and her husband, Jim, Effingham, Ill.; brothers, Tyler, of the U.S. Navy, Jake, Kyle and Kody Comstock, Tescott, a stepbrother, Cody Eash, of the U.S. Army, brothers, Storm, Blake, Austin and Destin; sisters, Rachael, Megan and Jasmine, Effingham; grandparents, David and Glenda Comstock, Colony, and Lee and Peggy Harshberger, Ottawa; aunts, Carmen Harshberger, Kansas City, and Audra Miller and her husband, Greg, and their daughter, McCall, Joplin, Mo.; and great-grandmother, Vera Comstock, Prescott.

Preceding her in death are uncles Bill Henderson and Chris Harshberger.

A memorial inurnment service will be at 11 a.m. on Oct. 17 in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.
