A man died after he was struck by two vehicles while crossing Busse Road in northwest suburban Mount Prospect, authorities said.

Christopher Spatafora, 51, of the 1700 block of West Crystal Lane, was hit on South Busse Road, just north of James Drive Thursday night, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Spatafora was pronounced dead at 10:25 p.m. at Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights.

The first vehicle was headed north on Busse when the pedestrian came out in front of the car, Liane Jackson, a spokeswoman for the Cook County sheriff said. Spatafora was then hit by a second northbound vehicle.

Jackson said the area where the crash happened was not at a crosswalk. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor, and the only citation issued was for the driver of second vehicle for not having driver's license.
