According the state medical examiner's office, a 19-year-old Oklahoma City woman died from a gunshot wound to the face.

The ME's office says the manner of death is still pending, but Oklahoma City detectives have called Kelsey Bransby's death a homicide.
Officers found Bransby lying on the floor when they went to an apartment complex at 3040 Southwest 89th St. on Oct. 27, after someone reported "unknown trouble," according to a police report.

She was transported to OU Medical Center, where she died from her injuries, police said.

"I don't know who would've done something like this," childhood friend Shea Walbaum said as she fought back tears. "This is awful; she didn't deserve this."

Walbaum said she rushed to the hospital after finding out her close friend had been shot.

"Everyone was talking about it on Facebook," she added. "I rushed over to the hospital. Kelsey was in ICU. Her cheeks were bruised and her lips were cracked."

Friends say she had some issues with drugs, but she was getting her life back on track.

"Everyone goes through different stages in life," she said. "Kelsey wanted to do something with her life. She had goals. She wanted to graduate from college."

Walbaum said Bransby lived with different friends and was living at the apartment where she was found.
